CPU upgrade:p4 prescott vs northwood

hi

I am looking to upgrade my cpu from a socket 478 celeron d 2.4GHz. I have an MSI 6787 v2 motherboard which means choice is limited to 533Mhz FSB maximum.

I was thinking of getting either a P4 2.8GHz Prescott 1Mb cache
or a 3.06Ghz Northwood 512Kb cache but with hyper threading

the northwood is more expensive but is it worth it for the hyper threading and faster speed or better to go with the newer architecture and larger cache of the Prescott?

I use the computer for photo editing and some simulation gaming, have a reasonable graphics card but i think the cpu is the bottleneck atm.

Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated!

thanks

I don't think you can go wrong with either, they are both great chips. My personal preference is the Northwood, because they don't run nearly as hot as the Prescott chips does. I just don't like all that heat they produce, so the reason for my choice.
