Cpu fan?

1145 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  phubeone
I just bought a new heatsink and fan from newegg. I tried to plug the fan in the cpu fan spot and the system fan spot. The fan does not work. It is a 3 pin connector. My motherboard is a K8NSC-939 and the last fan I used worked perfectly fine. If anyone knows anything about this please reply. thank you

Well if it does not work, you may already need a new CPU...AMD processors will fry in about 1 second without a heatsink fan. You may be alright becuase you did have a heatsink, just no fan.

When you installed the new heatsink you did use a thermal compound between the CPU and heatsink correct? Also, when you got the heatsink, did you spin the fan? If you spin the fan manually you will burn out the motor and it will not work. Other than that, make sure it is plugged in, in the right direction...
It could be a bad fan. Like Elf said I wouldn't even run the system without the fan or you'll fry you cpu and may damage the motherboard.
