It seems I have got some thing nasty on my computer!
Something is preventing programs from running, including, dial up, Norton and machine won't shut down without unplugging, so any changes I make will not save. Now I am no Buff but the only way I could get around the prob was to go into MSconfig and deselect all items from the start up. I waited and waited for windows to shut down, in the end I pulled the plug and restarted the computer. It opened up and gae me the chance to restore to a prev date. this I have done and all seems ok at the moment.
By way of clues. Some thing called STARTeak takes 100% cpu when trying to start. There are 2 progs I don't know what they are and have settled themselves in the windows file. Can't remove them a box comes up saying "canot open log file".
The progs are called "crush em" and "puzzle em"
Does any of this make sense? Is it a virus? Any help!

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm#S

StartEAK.exe= Easy Access Button Support for Compaq PCs. Required if you use these

did a search for crush em and puzzel em and came up with NOTHING...What Antivirus are you running ...if none (shame on you) but go get Nortons AV 2003/// meanwhile go here
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and use the free online scan...if you have Nortons try this one as well...you cant have too many opions...good luck...what changes or installs have you done in the past couple of days that might point us in the right direction ???

Also while your at it ... go to http://www.lavasoft.de/ download adaware and let it remove anything it finds
