Hello Board,

My computer froze so i had to shut it down by pressing the power button until it turned off. It's a

Dell Inspiron 530 Intel 2 Quad Cpu Q6660 2.4Ghz
6.0 Gb ram
Vista 64

So i shut it down, then turned it back on but the screen remained black, and all i could hear was the fans spinning, as they do when the PC is too hot.
I tried to unplug the USB peripherics, just leaving the screen plugged and the power cord but i got the same result. So i unscrewed the HD and plugged it to another PC tower that i have and it's working fine (Good thing i didnt lose any data). So what else could it be? The mother board? The rams?

Any idea what i can do?

Thanks !

Andrew

Has any hardware been added t the original configuration?
The COU fan will run at full RPM (like when over heated) until it can pass the Bios.

No. No hardware added. The only things that are plugged in are USB periphericals such as printer, Wireless Key and mic.

So the fan will run at full speed regardless of the temperature of the CPU?

It will run at full RPM until it can get past the Bios.
First suspect would be the PSU. Do you have or can you borrow one to try?
Try removing all the RAM-clear the CMO-install one RAM stick and try booting.

I have the one from the PC I am using now. Noob question, can i pass Bios without a harddrive plugged in? The PC is without the Hard drive at the moment.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS and attempted to boot with one stick of RAM?
With the Hdd out, attempt to boot from a Linux CD.

Well, i cleaned all i could and booted with just one stick of ram and it worked. Then added 1 by one and it is working fine now with all of them.

I guess when i shut if off some juice was left in the system??

Thanks for the helps and input !
