Core unlocking

Hi, i managed to unlock two extra cores on my Phenom II X2 550 by using the 'Core unlocker' switch on my motherboard (Asus M4A88T-V EVO/USB3), but i cant get the temps from my CPU as a result. I wanted to try a bit of overclocking and i was wondering if i reset the switch on the board, would the CPU turn back into a dual-core? if so, would i be able to then overclock it as a dual-core and re-unlock it?

Also, does the chip get hotter if i unlock it?

That is a drawback of unlocking your AMD. You lose access to the on-chip sensors.

Yes . . . and yes. Though I would unlock first, then begin overclocking.

Yes
How can i find out the temps, without using the sensors ? I havent done much overclocking, so i wouldnt know how far to take it.
What would you recomend i use for the overclocking? (AMD Overdrive, BIOS etc)
