control panel shows only a white page

Hi

Just got a new laptop with Vista Home Premium 32bit and recently i've had these really annoying problems,
the control panel won't load only a white page will display,a reboot is a must if i want it to work again for a few minutes.
and the other thing is that the windows media player won't open up either.

any help is appriciated.
