Connection Problems with HP C3100

I've just bought the HP C3100 All-in-One printer today. I installed everything successfully. The thing is though, it keeps on saying that the printer isn't connected with the computer. I've checked and made that it was. At first, everything worked except for the scanner option, but after one reboot, nothing works. It won't print, scan, or anything else. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

is it USB or parallel, because you need to make sure the right port is selected, on the settings. Control panel > printers and other..... > printers and faxes > right click printer > properties > ports tab > check correct port box > apply > ok.
