Hi

When I connect to the LAN of an internet cafe, my system tray shows a 100MBps connection, but when I try and surf the net using internet explorer, it cant find a net connection. I have updated the IP address settings in the TCP/IP section, but still no joy. Help!!

Any help is appreciated

Well ...

Some basic questions first:

1 - Are the Net Admins aware of your connection?

2 - Do they use a proxy service?

3 - Does their router use ACL's? If so, is your IP in the allow list for Ports 80 and 443?

4 - Can you ping the gateway?

5 - Can you resolve web addresses to ip addresses?

- Start-->Run-->cmd [enter]
- nslookup www.google.com [enter]
- It should come back with an IP address

If this doesn't work, make sure you have your DNS settings correct

That should be a good start. :compute:
