My HOSTS file is updated regularly.

Seems when it is updated there are many site links (via Google) that are blocked.

Can anyone educate me on the HOSTS file and what to do to unblock the blocked sites?

Is the HOSTS file a good thing? Maybe it blocks the bad guys, but some of the good guys are also blocked.

Thanks,
Sixcard

Hi

The HOSTS file is a bit like a telephone book. It's where your browser looks to resolve a domain name for a site you want to view.

Have a look here for an explanation.

You can use the HOSTS file at this site to make sure you don't go near bad sites that can infect your PC.

host manager?

There are many different hosts files as well as hosts file managers. I like bluetack's hosts file and their manager makes working with and updating the host a no brainer. Includes a toggle on/off function in case a web site is blocked.

Hosts is a free option to block bad sites and this utility makes it easy.
