Confirmed Trojan and possibly Alcra virus

889 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Ried
I tried to download something off of limewire yesterday, and was reminded why I uninstalled it in the first place. When I close it, it comes back on, characteristic of the alcra( researched on google, so it is only AFAICT). I uninstalled it 2(?) months ago, and then reinstalled it to download a new file. Upon downloading (movie), it stated I needed a new codec. Stupid me "downloaded" the codec only to relize I just got a new bug(Trojan...VOT?). So now I am on a mission to clear my computer of all bugs. Thanks for helping!

Here is the DSS:

Did I do something wrong? I know you guys run a busy forum, but many people that have posted before me and after me have their problems answered..I don't mean to sound rude but I have been waiting for a little over a week now..
Hello TruePraetorian,

Needless to say, engaging in file sharing activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. As soon as we clean this up, take a look at these articles regarding P2P file sharing:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/protection.mspx,

Download Combofix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop. For information regarding this download, please visit this webpage: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

--------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. If you are unsure how to do this, please see this link http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html

Judging by your Panda results, you picked up a lot more than 1 movie that was infected. :sayno:

Is this a folder you created for all those downloads?
