Bear in mind that I’m new to this stuff.
I’m trying to open ports for a computer that is not hard-lined to the router. Do I have to make the router changes through a computer that is hard-lined? The reason I ask is I tried to do this through the wireless computer….OS Vista by the way……..and when I tried to log in the username and password to access the router, the router would not recognize one or both, and I know they were entered correctly.

Thanks

You should always do configuration changes with a wired connection.

FWIW, you should be able to simply login on a wireless connection, so I have to suspect the name/password are not really correct.

I'm not sure what happened, but I have a sneaky suspicion you're correct about the username/password. I think I already know the answer but I'll ask anyway......is there a way to recover that info, or change it, without having to reset to factory defaults and starting over? The router is a Netgear WGR614 v6.

Thanks again
