I had my motherboard go out on me a while ago. Filed an RMA, got a new one and fired everything up. Weirdly, my computer's appeared to not recognize any of the devices (I had to re-download all of the drivers despite not losing my HD). Ever since then, everything's been slightly sluggish in Explorer. Button clicks can have up to a second or two of lag. If I hit the start button and start typing to look for something, it takes a full 1-2 seconds for any of my text to start showing up.

This is on a i5 2300k with 4GB of DDR2 RAM. There's a GTX460 in there too. I built the PC myself (and have built PCs in the past) and I'm just not sure why this is all happening. I checked my CPU temps and they're hovering at mid 30's Celsius at idle.

I have reinstalled all the drivers and everything's still sluggish. What do I have left to do?

What is the make and model# of your motherboard? Did you install the Chipset Driver first or at all?

I'm running the

500W Mushkin Volta PSU
4GB of Mushkin Blackline memory (i dont know the model, forgot it)
MSI H67MA-E45 Motherboard

And really, it was all running fine before the mobo replacement.

I did install the chipset driver, but it was probably the last one to be installed...

First off you do have some low quality parts in your PC. Before upgrading or building a new one I recommend you contact us first.

Second, the Chipset driver should always be installed first.

Did you try the link in post #2?

Did you install all of the drivers from MSI's website?

Haha! Masterchief - I actually did this as a very budget build for my parents computer which isn't really abused. No overclocking, rarely used for gaming. I know how to build high quality PCs but this was really a sub 600 dollar build 2 years ago, so yeah. That's what I was aiming for.

Is everyone here a PC modding enthusiast or something?

Anyways, I'll go through the list you sent me. Most of the stuff checks out from a quick glance.

I did install all my drivers from MSIs site. If I want to redo these driver installations, how should I go about it? Uninstall all the drivers I installed myself and then re-install them, starting w/ the chipset one?

Actually that is more then enough to build a high quality build; but its your money, your choice.

Moving on...

You could either do a system restore to before the drivers were installed. Or yes you could uninstall them yourself and reinstall.

Since this has happened only since the MB change it might be a good idea to get a look at the temps.

D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).
