Hi,

I have a PC with an ASUS baseboard z370-p II. Currently, it has 2 RAM chips at 8gb each, 3200mhz. I purchased 2 more 8gb's of the same spec and I've put them in. However, upon turning the machine on I don't get the "beep" I'm used to, and the machine doesn't come up. Its all whirring away, but the screens don't come on. Take them out, and its fine again.

The motherboard has 4 slots, so it obviously supports 4 RAM chips. What am I doing wrong? I was worried I'd blown the machine up when it didn't come on! Fortunately it worked again once I removed the new RAM

Thanks

Andy

Make sure you are using the Unbuffered Non-ECC DDR 4 DIMM's that are Same Speed and Manufacturer as stated in your Manual as outlined on Chapter 1 Page 1-6

Thanks for the reply. Hmm, that may well be it! I'm sure I checked this before, but it seems like the existing ones are 2666mhz, and the new ones are 3200.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>wmic MemoryChip get MemoryType, Name, Capacity, Configuredclockspeed, DeviceLocator, FormFactor, Manufacturer, Serialnumber, Speed

8589934592 2666 ChannelB-DIMM2 8 Corsair 0 Physical Memory 00000000 2666
While they are both corsair and the same model, it seems they don't play well together. I've just ordered another pack of 2 8gbs of the new type, and will give that a go when it arrives tomorrow :)

Thanks!

Andy
