I brought home a computer from my office, where it is connected to a network. I runs Windows Vista Business SP1. It was loaded with viruses so I took offline and ran a bunch of cleaners. My last scan turned up no threats. I plugged a cat5e cable from my router to the computer. The computer cannot read that is connected. I have AT&T Uverse as my ISP. There are no status lights for the LAN ports to detect activity, and the network card on the PC has no activity lights either. I've tested the port by plugging in my laptop with the same cable, and I was able to connect and surf. I also went to the device manager and there were no alerts on the driver for the network card.
I was thinking that it might be because it is from the office, and maybe there is some network setting that might have to be changed. Please let me know why this is happening.

Hi, you should talk to your IT dept at work, your office computer was most likely part of a domain. We cannot help you circumvent what your employer has put into place.
