When we boot up my friends computer it will start booting up and never beeps once. Sometimes when we turn it on it will get stuck on one beep, hold it, stop, then beep again and continue doni this again and again. On the rare occasino when we do get it up we used a hardware monitor to monitor his temperature to see if it was overheating. Everything looks fine except CPU2 which temperature fluxes from 50 degrees F to 220 degrees F.

Wehaven't been able to tell if it shuts down t a certain temperature or not yet. Any suggestions?

Windows XP
256 MB RAM
Saphire Radeon ATI 9600XT

Sounds like a faulty temperature probe. If it gives readings above 200F then the computer will power down to protect the components.

Depends where the probe is. If it's on the CPU die then it requires a new CPU. If it's on the motherboard then it requires a new motherboard. Testing involves using like devices and seeing how things turn out. My bet is that it's the CPU. Take it by a local shop and see if they can test it out for ya.

We just downloaded and ran cpuz (Gives you information on all of your hardware.) and it shows I have no second cpu. XD. So I guess this would mean a faulty motherboard? >.<

you need to open up the computer, the side panel, while its off, and check for loose connections, ram seated properly, video card in good, cpu fan on tight and so on.
