no, my pc isnt working. I'm saying it came on, but the screen blanked out and the comp
crashed. I therefore hit the reset switch, but it doesnt boot, floppy just trys to
load and the pc beeps every 6 secs.. Which i thinl suggests its restarting itself? There's nothing in the floppy. I've just switched it on again and now the floppy does nothing and it doesnt beep anymore.. Just keeps restarting..

Ok, how old is your PC? Could you post your PC specifications?
Open the case and clean from dust inside with vacuum cleaner or compressed air...
Also clean cooler on processor and replace paste on it if you see a lot of dust inside...
This above is just for your PC to be clean but might be solution...
Take away graphic card and clean PCI-E slot or AGP slot [do not know which one you have] with brush and put graphic card back into slot...
Take out memory too and clean slots with brush...
Your PSU might is almost dead if you have your PC for a quite a long time... Please post spec...
Also, see what is brand/model of your HDD and download testing utility from their site and test HDD and test your RAM memory too...
And one last thing: Did you recently installed or uninstalled some programs or did you updated drivers???
Hope this will help...

Dude, browse then and find similar problem... But I must assure you that probably your PC do not have same specifications with other peoples PC... And YES, this problem is quite often but there are various of things that you can do to solve it.
maybe it is a virus, or dusty case from inside, or bad HDD or memory module, etc...
So please, post your specifications so we can see what to do...
