I'll cut to the chase. I just baught a Palit 8800GT 1GB Super to replace my Asus 7600GT (I know the 1GB of ram isn't needed but it was cheap here). When I connect the Palit, my computer won't boot. Basically it seems to be power cycling, as if it was restarting itself over and over about once a second (and giving the start up beep each time).

When I connect my Asus card again, I have no such problem. I was wondering if it might be a problem with my power supply, my power supply available through my wall socket at home or the card. I tried to find information on how much a Palit 8800 GT Super would take before buying it but I wasn't able to find it. My udnerstanding is that a regular 8800GT should be runable on a 450W supply.

Here are my relevant specs:

Asus A8V-E SE
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (Socket 939)
3 GB Kingston Value Ram
Antec 550W power source (Model TP2-550 EPS12V)
Some sorta hardrive and DVD Rom drive.
Palit 8800GT 1GB Super
Windows XP Pro x64
I also have 1 large fan (about 12cm in diameter) and 2-3 medium sized ones (about 8cm) going in there.

The video card is connected properly, inluding the PCI-E power cord. I have 2, I tried both of them with the same results. I also tried an adapter that connects to two 4 pin ends and gives you a PCIE end and that didn't work either.

I would appreciate any help I could get.

I think I have got it solved. Seems to be a bad video card. The MB seems to give me a beep code after a while. 2 fast beeps then 3 slow beeps. The award bios beep code for 1 long beep and 3 short beeps is a non-functional video card. It also makes the same noise when I have no video card installed. Damn you NCIX.
