Sorry Andy, it doesn't. This problem affects all browsers and my computer files. The font is the same everywhere.

Note: It has only affected my part of the computer. The other people's areas are normal - fonts showing as they should not all the same.

It's also made the top bar on browsers thin and small.

Well now, It might be spyware or ad-ware of some sort. What type of
antivirus do you have and what type of spyware/adware blocking and removal programs do you have? Also- can you remember anything downloaded or installed just prior to this occuring?

I downloaded two programs.

1) Windows Washer. However, I didn't use this and have since removed it.

2) SpyAudit from webroot.

Could it be to do with these?

There are many things that it could be-

First- do you have system restore on. If yes you could try to restore the
system to a point before this occured. This will obviously cause you to loose data from that time until now. If you would rather not do that, then lets try cleaning up the computer and doing some trouble shooting.
Shut off system restore (Rt Click My Computer>System Restore tab- turn off.)
Restart computer.

Second- delete the windows washer via add/remove programs

Third- go to the page listed below and down load Clean-up 4.0 ( scroll down to mid page and look for Clean up 4.0 exe) and then
run the program. When complete- click yes and allow it to log off. Then restart the computer.

This will clean out all your temp files and cache's.

Then go to Internet Explorer>windows update and make sure you have
all the updates for the computer. Once this is done -restart the computer.

In searching the net- a similar problem occured just after a windows update and after a couple days it corrected itself (presumably by a followup windows update correction).

This is a good start to trouble shooting the problem.

I've done a full system check with no viruses found.

I think I'll contact Microsoft. Obviously, for some reason the view of the font has been blocked so everything appears as the same font - files, folders, browsers, etc.

Thankfully it's not a huge problem and when files are printed, they come out as the correct font. It's more of a nuisance. Hopefully Microsoft will be able to solve the conundrum.
