Computer Specs
Motherboard Name, Value
Product: P67A-C43 (MS-7673)
Processor Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
BIOS Name: BIOS Date: 10/04/11 16:18:46 Ver: 04.06.04
Installed Memory: 8.00 GB DDR3 Corsair 1600mhz 1.5v 2x4gb
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

I have two RAM sticks (both the same) installed to equal 8gb, but wanted to get two more to make it 16. I purchased the same ones and as soon as I installed them the computer reboots before start-up over and over again. I thought 64 Bit could accept that amount. I've checked all ram sticks in all slots. Just DIMM 3-4 work, but sticks won't work in both 1-2 slots. Would the slots be messed up? Also, I unplugged everything but what was needed to run computer, didn't work. Did a fresh install of windows, still didn't work. Tried other various things. Any Ideas why the new installations wont work? If you need any other info let me know. Thanks!

Is this PC OEM (HP-Dell-etc.) or a custom build?
If it's custom built, post the Brand & Model of the Mobo.
Have you tried using the two problematic slots with no other RAM installed?
If you have two RAM slots that no RAM will work in it would appear those two slots are defective.
Are all of the RAM sticks identical in brand and specs?
Why do you feel you need more than 8GB of RAM?

It's a custom build PC.
Motherboard
Manufacturer: MSI
Product: P67A-C43
Model Num: (MS-7673)
Version: 1.0

RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9b

Yes I tried using the other two slots with the same results. All RAM sticks are Identical except the version numbers on two are 2.12 and the other are 8.16. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

What do you usually do with your pc ? gaming ? gfx design ? server hosting for games etc?

What problems did you faced to make you feel that you need more ram ?

Anyway , i also think you have defective ram slots , which would be best to test the same components on another board.

Is this really relevant to the problem?

Just DIMM 3-4 work, but sticks won't work in both 1-2 slots. Would the slots be messed up?
To be clear, pairs of DIMMs should be installed in like-colored slots; ie slot 1 + slot 3 (blue) and slot 2 + slot 4 (black)

I do believe the slots are defective as well. Thank you for your help
Your welcome but I would want to be absolutely certain before replacing the Mobo when the problem could be the RAM or incompatibility with the two sets.
