computer powers off straight away

954 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Tyree
hi all,

as soon as i boot my computer up it powers off straight away after about 10 seconds.... i thought it may have been then psu so i replaced it with a spare one i had laying around but unfortunately this did not fix the problem :normal:

the cpu on the motherboard is still working as well so i was thinking that it might be the thermal paste? does anyone know how to replace this or have any other ideas on what might be happening here?

any help or advice would be more than appreciated

thanks heaps guys!!

cheers

what are you running
video card
cpu
m/board
ram
power supply
brand
model
wattage

check the listings in the bios for voltages and temperatures and post them

anytime you disturb the h/sink you have to clean off and renew the paste

hi dai and thanks for the reply!

unfortunately I don't know the info off hand and cannot check due to the immediate power off after I boot up

I can't get into the bios either so fingers crossed it's the thermal paste and I can fix this without issues!

thanks again mate :)

hi guys,

i applied new thermal paste and replaced the psu but to no avail....

pretty sure it was a custom build. the psu doesnt appear to be the issue but i can tell you that the processor is an amd dual core 64 bit
