Hi there, I'm sorry if this problem has been talked over loads of times, but I'm new and would really like to fix my computer as soon as possible. So if anyone has any ideas please help!

I run a HP pavillion, it's a few years old but has served me well. I added a second hard drive last year. And have bought an external hard drive, but not yet installed it.

Yesterday I was about to burn a DVD, but I noticed my G: drive was not showing. As I was popping out shortly I left the computer doing various virus checks. Lava soft found about 11 things, which is not unsual, AVG found nothing. I restart the computer so I can do scan disk. When I turn on I get an error message that says "Windows delayed write failure. Windows was unable to save.." I never managed to write the full thing down, but it did say there may be a loss of data.

I then tried to restart the computer, except it doesn't get past the first screen. I checked in Bios and the primary master drive is not showing! It wont detect it and I have fiddled with the case and it still doens't work.

I put my flatmates windows disk in but it says no operating system installed. Does anyone have any ideas? Let me know if you need more ifo. Cheers guys!

Cheers guys, I'm using my flatmates computer. I have downloaded some of the things you suggest, and her computer has no floppy and for some reason wont burn CD's (I'm istalling nero to try and solve this)

I took the battery out and have put it back in. But now when I turn it on it says "CPU fan failed, have system serviced immediately" it then turns itself off. I've had a quick look but my combination of not knowing the inside of a computer that well and all the cables being packed in like spagheti isn't helping.

Any ideas?

Ok, I no longer get the fan error now, the battery is in fine. Using a boot disc I created in nero I get various error messages each time I try. Usually unable to find any FAT 32 disks, or that the serial CD is installed. I'm going to try burning one of the links suggested again, just wondered if anyone had any other ideas what it might be, cheers guys!

It then just asks me to insert a system disk (I put the XP disk in) and when that finishes it wants floppy disk which I dont have and cant easily create.
