So I've had this new PC for a couple months or so, it was built by a relable friend and it runs well.
Recently it keeps getting static build up on the motherboard, preventing it from booting and I need to have it unplugged for half hour before I can use it.

However, now it does not boot up, it will power up, the light is on, yet theres no display on the screen. It sounds a series of beeps, must be about 6or 7 beeps and then nothing. I can press the power button again and it will switch off straight away, like it does pre windows booting.

I don't have onboard graphics so I can't boot from that, but I'm not sure what to do.

Would you be able to give some advice and things I could try?

I'm on Windows 7 ultimate, not sure if that helps.

Many thanks for your time.

Do you have the mother board manual, it will tell you what the beeps mean

what motherboard do you have?

The beeps you hear are the key to finding out what the problem is. If you look up your motherboard on the manufacturer's website you should be able to find out the type of BIOS installed. Then go here and interpret the beep codes. All static does is kill computer components, not delay their startup.

If you have no display and several beeps then it is your Video Card that is the problem. It is either not seated correctly or has died. Pull it out and re-seat it. If it is continuous beeps, then it is your RAM. They may need to be reseated or they could have died.
