Hello, my computer has gotten a virus called Windows 7 Home Security that pretends to be an antivirus program. I read that I'm supposed to post logs, but I unfortunately can't open any programs, including the internet (I'm on a different computer now), so it would seem to be impossible.

I was able to restart in Safe Mode, which as far as I can tell hasn't changed anything. I've also managed to access the task manager and the list of processes shows what appears to be the root of the problem, wkh.exe. I can end the process, but it immediately reappears in the list if I try to open any program and thus I'm barred from doing so.

I'm certain it would make a world of difference if you could see my logs, but any help that can be offered is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Welcome to TSF.
I'm nasdaq and will be helping you.

You have a bad infection.

Print the instructions from this topic if you can.

Remove XP Anti-Spyware 2011, Vista Security 2011, and Win 7 Internet Security 2011 (Uninstall Guide)

Follow the instructions as describe under
Automated Removal Instructions for XP Anti-Virus 2011, Vista Total Security 2011, and Win 7 Home Security using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:

If at any time you need help before proceeding with a fix please ask.

When you can please submit the Malwarebytes' log.

Include the log from this DDS program.

Please download and run this DDS Scanning Tool. Nothing will be deleted. It will just give me some additional information about your system.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Please just paste the contents of the DDS.txt log in your next post.

Let me know what problem persists.
