Yesterday my computer has been showing me messages saying that 'a program has been terminated' and after this it displays another message saying that the computer is going to restart in 60 seconds.
These messages appear after ANY program is opened (even the Control Panel).
The first message says:
The instruction at “0x8b6febc2” (or 0x8484dd72) referenced memory at “0x8b6febc2” (or 0x8484dd72) The memory could not be “written”
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
The second message says:
This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and lob off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM
The system process ‘C://WINDOWS/system32/services.exe’ terminated unexpectedly with status code (I’m not sure)
I had recently gone to some sites trying to watch a video and had opened many sites at once trying to find the video I wanted so there is no definite answer as to what site could have caused this (or even if a site did cause this).
I have a Windows XP labtop (ThinkPad R series). I use Cisco and Norton on my computer and they have not caused me problems before.
I have final exams this coming week and it would be very much appreciated if I could get my computer running again. Thanks!
Edit:
I think I need to add that I have to take the battery out of the labtop before the computer 'restarts'.
Just a reminder...my finals are this week...
