Hi guys..hope you are good....here is my issue with my laptop..

Recently whenever I press the power button and the laptop start up before it has a chance to go into Windows there is a black screen that says it is
"Checking File system on D" Then on the screen it states all the files on the disk it has checked and at the end of each check it says "verification completed"

Now once this process is done nothing happens. I am not sent to windows or anywhere else..there is no cancel, or exit button etc.

To get into Windows I have to take out the battery, put it back in, restart the laptop and when this black screen appears press the ESC button.

Now when Windows starts up and I open chrome after a few minutes of browsing the laptop freezes up and I am unable to move the cursor or do anything. I have to once again remove the battery to turn it off.

What should i do?

See if clearing the CMOS helps. Refer to your system manual or your notebook PC manufacturer for steps to enter your BIOS and load setup/optimized defaults.

Also try clearing your BIOS software/hardware connections.

  • Shut down and turn off the computer.

  • Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector and then remove the battery.

  • "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English)).

  • Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.

  • Plug the battery back into the laptop and then plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard, and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.

  • Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware.

So..i ran into another problem while trying to do what you suggested. I had to burn a Windows 7 installation dick and when i tried to do what was suggested above and I get to part where it says press any key to boot from cd after that it says Windows is loading files. ...Then after a few minutes I get a window that say there is a problem with the CD ROM drive....

But my Cd Rom drive is ok as i checked it using another CD and a DVD.

After a few attempts i still get the same thing. Now after awhile when I press esc when the message comes up and Windows is starting up..it does not go beyond the Windows logo..

Helppp what do i do now..I hope I did not mess things up badly

I would not recommend downloading the Windows OS from online sources unless it is directly from Microsoft or your PC manufacturer. Downloading from other sources can allow malicious items to be installed on the system, which can compromise your identity and the stability of the system.

Ok so far i have ran a disk check outside Windows using a Recovery dick for Windows 7...after it reached part 4 of 5 it seemed to stop. ( left it for about 6 hours and nothing happened) ..

I stopped the process and then ran the Bootable Hard Drive Diagnostics and it came back with " Problem detected on disk drive" and nothing else...I am about to run the Seatools test.....
