Computer Freezes a lot...

A question your probably get asked a lot as it's fairly common and is probably caused by a few different things. But I hope you can help me sort my problem out which may be difficult because I don't know why it freezes.

Bassicly, all I know is that my computer can go hours without crashing and then sometimes go 5 mins after boot and crash. I can't see it being a memory/RAM problem because, like I said, my computer can go ages without crashing.

My windows XP is up to date. My Graphics drivers are up to date. I've checked the temperatures on my motherboard and doesn't seem like an overheating problem.

I'm currently doing a virus scan but I only got this computer 2 weeks ago so it's quite fresh and shouldn't have any viruses.

I've only noticed the crashing when playing games, but then again, most of the time I am playing a game so might just be a coinsidence that it's never happened whilst not playing a game.

Hope you can help, if you need computer information I can give :>

It may be an os error? Or maybe your games are too CPU intensive and require more than you have.
I have the E8400 running 2 cpu's at 3ghz. Possibly an OS error, this would mean a format? :/
You do not have to format yet... First run chkdsk /r maybe it will fix problem.
Hope this will help... Try this and let us know...

hmm, do I do that by puting XP disc in or do I type that command in Run?

I'm not to great at computers x)
Its with Run, or right click on your Local Disk in My computer and hit properties. Then go to tools and find the Check Disk. You will have to restart, but it should run on startup.
