ok well heres the problem, and i will love anyone to help me fix it.

so, no matter wat im doing, be it, playing a game, listening to music(and only music), talking on msn, watching youtube video, NO MATTER WAT IM DOING! My computer will freeze and reapeat sound like a broken record and screen will freeze up pointer sometimes will or wont work, this happens for about 10-15 seconds then it goes back to normal, i dont thinkg its an overheating problem because it does not matter wat im doing.

this is my Rig at the moment:
AMD Athlon 5600+ 2.8Ghz
2Gb ram
nVidia XFX 8800GT (i know its hot so dont giv me ****) lol
MSI mobo idk wat model or anything
500Gb HD
500W coolermaster PSU
Windows XP no clue was SP or if 32 or 64bit
all in my sexy cooler master Mystique case

My best guess is that your power supply (500 watt) is not up to pulling an XFX 8800gt. For that video card I think you need a 700 to 750 watt good quality power supply. Here is a list of great quality supplies:

Seasonic – Any Model
Corsair – Any Model
PC Power & Cooling – Any Model
Thermaltake – “Toughpower” Series Only
Coolermaster – “Real Power Pro” Series Only
OCZ – “800” Watt model Only

i should have specified that its only semi-recently started this problem and iv had it since before summer vacation, and the box only requires a 500watt on the GPU box, not that im saying ur wrong just letting u know. nut tyvm ill try getting a new PSU because im planning on getting this card either for christmas or after if not then, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143154

A power supply over time deteriates, so it might very well be that. The problem that I see is that an underpowered power supply can damage other computer components.

I obviously don't agree with you that a 500 watt can perform well with even the 8800 card that you have. The 8800gt is power hungry and you don't have much power.

You are the one putting out the money and taking the risk of damaging other componts, so you have to make that decision. If I were betting, my bet would be the power supply. The way to see is to borrow a bigger and more powerful supply and try it in there to see if it helps your situation.
