I have a Compaq presario c500, that i tried to downgrade from vista to xp. I wipe the drive, but it will not even show the boot sequence after the post screen, it just goes black. then it tells u that the ntldr is missing. what do i do? heelllllllp!!!!

and welcome to the Forum

Have you gone into BIOS and set the first boot device as CD ROM? What are you using to install XP From? . . an original installation cd?

While you are in BIOS, check the "Sata Operation" setting, change it to "Raid Autodetect/ATA if it is not already. Now try to install XP ( Verbage will vary by manufacturer some will say IDE instead of ATA)
