Total newbie here...

I have an older Compaq Presario 3000 laptop, massive thing

I installed XP Pro onto it a few months ago

I am having some boot problems. Right now, the laptop will not boot up. The laptop turns on, the Compaq Flash screen comes up, and then nothing happens.

There is certainly nothing happening in the background either, the only audible activity being the fan.

I have had this problem in the past, after a few days it just booted up again and I did not have problems again.

The last thing I did with the laptop was to watch a DVD. I removed the DVD and it sat for a while. The program was shut down, and eventually the laptop was shut down.

I am thinking that perhaps there is just something loose or something, because of the fact that it did boot up after suffering the same problem.

I am admittedly not very knowledgable about this hardware, however.

Any help would be appreciated.

Coachmarino, I think you should just get rid of the laptop and send me a check. Maybe if you quit blowing me off I would help you with your POS laptop.

I have the same problem, this happened just after I replaced the battery. Can you get into the bios?
