Hi,
This topic may have been covered before, but the search engine is down, so I thought i'd throw it out there to you guys.
Basically I've connected a Netgear WGR614v9 wireless router to a Comcast modem and I've been having all sorts of headaches.
When the ethernet cable is connected to my laptop I get the internet no problem and can easily change the settings on my router, including the password (which is WPA-PSK) and anything else required.
I can then disconnect the ethernet, and turn on my wireless card. I then look up my wireless connection, enter the password and bam, i'm connected. Except I'm not. While the computer tells me I'm connected, I have no access the internet, and even more strangely, no access to the router setup, which i think is pretty odd.
So there's my dilemma, I've got no wireless connection, but the router seems to be working. I'm on Comcast internet and I've tried a couple of other troubleshooting techniques so far including silly things like changing from WPA to WEP. I also read that you need the MAC address of the router to match the MAC of the wireless adapter, but that didn't get anything but a blinking orange light. Also my wireless adapter is Atheros AR5005G.
Hope this is enough info, if you need anything else let me know.
Thanks. Chris.
