everything was ok before i downloaded the critical updates on xp pro. after getting the updates, my card reader suddenly had an error. first was "code 10" error when i checked the device manager, so i tried to reinstall the driver. after doing so, it gave an error of "code 28". i tried searching for a fix at microsoft but i can't seem to find one. any of you guys experienced this kind of error? please help....

Start by deleting the device out of Device Manager and rebooting. That will sometimes clear stuff like this up.

hi johnwill, i actually did that already. after removing ang rebooting my unit, xp will automatically detect the hardware and tries to install it but after which it will just give me the "code 28" error. i have the correct driver because it was perfectly fine before i updated xp. i dont want to reinstall my xp just for that, but if that's the last option then i have no choice. any other options other than reinstalling my xp?
