Hello everyone,
I am new to these forums, and troubleshooting.

I am having heat/crash issues while I play CoD4, and only CoD4. I have been running Speedfan, and it appears that my GPU is overheating, leading to the crash of my computer.
In a hopeful attempt to fix the issue, I downloaded RivaTuner and Speedfan. I maxed out all of the fans-including my video card's- to 100%
That didn't solve the problem.

Is anyone else having this issue? Has anyone found a way to solve it.
Since it is only with CoD4, I'm assuming that there is some sort of conflict between the game and my video card drivers.

Let me know. Thanks :)
If you need any more information, just ask.

Hi, welcome to TSF.

Mind if I ask what temperature Speedfan was reporting the GPU at? Also, was that when the system was idle or during a game?

Lastly, what are your full system specs?

Edit: Damn, beaten. Yes, it is possible to run CoD 4 on Win 98. It supports 95, 98, 2000, ME and XP.

Sorry, I'm actually running XP, I miss-clicked.

Windows XP 32
Nvidia Geforce GTX 280
AMD Processor unknown model.
2.00 GB ram.

Idle temps.
GPU - 42c
CPU - 41c
HD0 - 32c

Loading/game play temp.
GPU - high 50s, or low 60s
The rest of the temps stayed pretty consistant, none of them went up by more than 10c or so.

The problem is only in CoD4. I don't think it's a temperature issue anymore; I ran my 3dmark on loop, and surpassed the temperatures I get during CoD4 by about 10c. and I had no issues.
I'm pretty sure there's a conflict with the my video drivers and the game, or the video itself. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both my drivers and game several times. Nothing has changed.
I tried to revert to an earlier video driver that I knew would work with CoD4, but I got an error saying it wasn't compatible with my computer hardware.

I'll keep you guys posted. If you need anymore information, or have any ideas, let me know.

for one thing....those temps arent all that high........and 3dmark has higher temps thatn cod4 but doesnt crash?.......

what powersupply do u have?.....i'd say its more likely that ur card(a fairly beasty one at that) isnt getting enough juice......

my card software warns me when the card exceeds a designated temp (60 deg.) can anyone suggest a program that does the same...

(sry my software is 'smart doctor'...comes with most ATI cards!)
