Hello all. Back again with another issue.

I got a WVC80N Cisco wireless camera that was supposed to be a cinch to setup. I got it to work at home (but didn't get as far as the TZO service set-up) but I bought it to use in my store.

I have a wireless router there - with local DSL service. Never have a problem with my laptops connecting.

Tried to set it up the camera there, no luck. The installation seems to go fine right up to the point where you disconnect the camera and it searches for it on the network, then I get the error message - camera not detected (even though when cabled to to router it is recognized). Tried it over and over, shut down rebooted and eventually forced the camera to reboot and erase all the settings and start over. No luck.

Could it be my router is too old ? I thought it might be so I brought a second one in - a Linksys, pretty sure it was type N.

Since it worked at home I know the camera isn't faulty ... suggestions ?

Hmm, nobody ? I have checked the specific support sites for Cisco but can find nothing. I can message tech support but from what I have read they are in the Phillipines or somewhere and not of much help with tough issues.

Is this a wireless IP camera? If so, you connect the cam to your network with a cable, then you have to configure the camera to access your wireless network name and supply the password. You should assign the camera a static or reserved IP address in your router's setup page as well.

Fred - Thanks for the reply. Yes, I wireless IP camera. I do connect it by cable to the router - that is part of the setup process and everything goes smoothly until I disconnect and it searches for it (WEP key was entered during setup procedure)that is when it isn't found.
Now it did successfully setup at my home - so I know it works. Figured maybe I had an outdated router (non N type) so I brought a second one I knew was correct. Still no luck.
I am not sure how to do the static IP setup (that is why they include a free trial of an online service) but I will take a look and see if I can figure it out.

PS - I like your Avatar - I sell the "Leg Lamp" items in my gift shop.

You'll have to look at the documentation for your router and the router's wireless network settings. If the IP camera supports wireless "G", your router needs to be set to broadcast in G (as opposed to N only).

I can't help with the camera's software because they're all different. If it has a utility to search for a wireless network, use it and make sure all settings are saved. If not, you should be able to manually assign the wireless settings in the cam. If all else fails, do a hard reset on the camera and start over. Pushing the reset pin in for about 10 seconds usually does it.

I almost used a picture of the leg lamp :rofl:
