CISCO Router advice

1157 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  theGman
Hi, I've just started an online CCNA course and my friends have advised me to purchase a used Cisco router to get hands on experience rather than just use the simulation labs. I've just bought a Cisco WS-C2924-xl-en, advertised as a router but when I looked on the Cisco web site for specs I notice it is listed as a swich and not a router. Will I be able to use this to practice setting up or do I need a router? Any help will be gratefully received.

johnwill, thanks for the reply. I thought that would be the reply. Unfortunately I bought it on ebay, advertised as 'Cisco Series 2900 router'. It wasn't until I had won it that I went onto the cisco site to see the specs. Back to Ebay I guess!:sigh:
Thanks for the advice I guess I'll hold onto it then!
