Budget: How much money are you willing to spend on the laptop?
I would prefer not to spend over 700$ but if given enough reason would exceed that price to some extent.

Screen: What size screen do you want, and do you need widescreen?
Screen size doesn't matter but no smaller than a 14" screen will take wide screen and normal sized screen.

Brands: Are there any brands you want or don't want to buy?
No not really I just havn't heard too great of things about acer. But i will take any advice that you guys are willing to give.

Mobility: How much will you need and how long does the battery need to last?
I would just expect an average battery life, but too extent battery life does not matter to me.

Durability: Does this laptop need to be sturdy or durable/semi-durable?
I don't believe the durability will matter to me I would just like something of good build quality, I would take good care of it but good build quality is always a positive.

Multitasking: Will you be multitasking with this laptop and if so, how much?
I will probably multitask to an extent but nothing severe as I cannot expect to do intensive multitasking on a laptop. But I would do multi tasking at the most extent would be running maybe a game and opening a browser or something.

Gaming: Will you be gaming and if so, how much and how new are the games?
Yes, but nothing too graphically intensive like Crysis 2 that intense but more normal intensive games nothing ever over a call of duty level and some lower intensive games like minecraft.

Calculations: Will you be doing any intense calculations or multimedia encoding?
No

Storage: How much storage will you need and what will you be storing?
I am Not Concerned About The Storage

Optical Media: Will you need to burn any optical media like CDs or DVDs?
No

Operating System: Do you want Windows XP or Vista, or Linux compatibility?
Windows 7

Location: What country do you live in?
Canada

Out of those two choices I prefer the Asus to the Dell. The APU is like a CPU and GPU combined to increase performance while lowering power consumption. I have a system built with the dual-core APU but haven't had a chance to run benchmarks or tests yet.

Actually, out of all of the computers in that price range I am preferring the Asus you linked to. Most of the computers in that price range have Intel HD graphics (none have Dedicated GPU)

I am not sure what performance you would get out of COD (it is a GPU intensive game) but I would hope it is better then the Intel HD graphics.

Here are a couple of comparison benchmarks to help you get an idea where it falls in with other CPU/GPUs

PassMark - AMD A6-3410MX APU with Radeon HD Graphics - Price performance comparison

I guess using cod wasn't the best example I am thinking a game like starcraft could be a better exemple. Would the ASUS processor be alot slower than the dells or are they somewhat close and there would not be a huge difference? Thanks for the reply :)

I would never use a laptop for gaming for obvious reasons but in my opinion the Asus is the best out of those however in my opinion Lenovo make the best laptops.

Laptop Help?

I guess in my first thread i didn't really get what i wanted to say across so if any moderator or whoever could delete that for me it would be greatly appreciated :). Im starting this new thread in a better effort of finding a laptop im looking for but also trying to learn some things about laptops that may help me make this choice. For my budget on getting a new laptop I would like to spend around 600$ and i could some higher if given enough reason. The Screen size for me isn't a big seller as long as it is 14" or above In general i would classify my hopes for a laptop would be a multimedia laptop. Mobility is not a concern of mine. The durability of the laptop is not a huge deal I would like a well made laptop that will last. As for multi tasking i will probably just do the average share of multitasking but nothing to extreme. I do plan on using the Laptop for gaming but before you take this as a way to say never game on a laptop the majority of my gaming is done on my xbox so If i would only use it for casual gaming nothing graphically intensive ( I do like to play minecraft ). Storage and operating system do not concern me even though i would prefer to have Windows 7. For the country i live in, i live in Canada.

The questions that i have are hopefully something someone can help me with. I am curious if there is a big difference between an Intel Processor or an AMD processor in my price range? Also when it comes to the processors and the Graphics cards that come with the processor how would a Intel HD Graphics 3000 compare to that of lets say a AMD Radeon HD 6520 G or a AMD Radeon HD 6720g2 unless all i would need is an intel HD graphics for what i plan on using this laptop for? Thanks for reading if you took the time too all help and all opinions are appreciated. Suggestions of laptops are welcome and if any reccomendations are made on what would be best for me to get are GREATLY appreciated as i am having trouble finding a laptop and learning enough to know what is good what is bad and what is best for what i plan on using it for which would generally be casual gaming, movies, music, and average every day use. Thanks
