I have a HP Pavilion D7 with an unreadable cracked screen. I connected a monitor to the laptop so I can still use it until I repair the screen . Is there a way that I can make the monitor the main screen so at boot I can choose my second OS?

If you go into Screen Resolution options, there should be a check box for "Set this display as my main display".

Thanks for the response. Will it stay the main screen if I reinstall the OS?

No, you will need to reconfigure the setting.
