Hello, I have been having a problem with my IP address. I've noticed that it constantly changes from some unknown IP that keeps me from surfing the web and my own address that does. I am completely helpless when it comes to the technicalities of computers. Can some one help me?

The "unknown" address is probably 169.254.x.x

Is this wired or wireless? What is the version and patch level of Windows? What kind of broadband equipment do you have, make and model? What have you tried to resolve the issue?

Actually, it would be useful to see all of it:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
