Now when I download anything from the internet via Chrome, the item downloaded goes to user>documents>downloads.

I would like to change the default download location to Desktop, not in a sub-folder.

Below is screenshot of Chrome settings>advanced> download, plus the menu that appears when I select Change.

I have tried to change this to Desktop, without the intervening user/documents/download, but haven't been successful.

Can you please explain how to so this?

  1. Click the Chrome menu
    on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Show advanced settings and scroll down to the "Downloads" section.
    • To change the default download location, click Change and select where you'd like your files to be saved.
    • If you'd rather choose a specific location for each download, select the "Ask where to save each file before downloading" checkbox.

Hi, you should not use desktop for downloads, it will slow your start up and is totally against convention. I always create a new folder called downloads in the root directory (usually c:) then if you wish to reinstall your OS all downloads can be backed up easily. Also if the downloads folder is on c: drive it is available to all users, otherwise other users cannot access the programs.

WHERE is the link to start a new thread?

A screenshot would be great.

Gotta do this on my phone because I can't get the router to connect to the DSL/internet on my Windows 10 "Updated" computer. : /

Will post the details when I find how to post a new thread!
