I'm trying to find out if I can use the latest cd burners with my older system (Gateway Pentium2/266mhz/128ram/IE 5.5 browser). Most of the burner models' I've checked out have system requirements requiring Win98 or later OS, though the bundled software like Nero Express 5.5/Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3 can work with Win95. I've heard from others that current cd-rw burners work fine with Win95b as long as the software supports it- but possibly the writing performance won't be as good as with a more powerful system. I'd like to hear pros-cons of trying to use newer burners with older computers. I've never installed a burner in my computer either. Thanks a lot! Bobc

I have to say that I've never tried it, though I don't know why it doesn't work. FWIW, I'd consider an upgrade to at least W98SE, you can find copies on places like eBay real cheap nowadays...
