I recently reformatted my hard drive but forgot to check to make sure I had all my hardware installation CDs before doing so. It seems that without the CD that game with my CD drive, it is unable to write CDs (it can still read them just fine). My drive is a Lite On 32x12x40 CDRW Model LTR-32123S. I went to Lite-On's driver download site http://www.liteonit.com.tw/english/index-english.htm but the the firmware stuff on that page didn't do anything for me. Anyway, if anyone knows of a way I could get my computer to recognize my CD drive as a writable drive, any help would be appreciated.
I have Nero installed, that's what I used before reformatting, but when I go to the Choose Recorder window (to select my CD drive) the only thing I can choose is Image Recorder (which allows me to create image files, but not to burn anything.
The problem appears to be the CD isn't being recognized properly. Can you read CD's in the drive? Is there any errors in Device Manager for the CD drive? What does Device Manager give as a description of the drive?
