I put in a PC game and nothing would show up on the computer, I also had try other CDs and they have been unread as well. I try relocating the CD-ROM but it seems to be missing from the hardware. Can anyone help me fix this problem?

Hi, welcome to TSF

Is the drive listed in BIOS and Windows Explorer?

Open the case and make sure the data cable is properly connected to the back of the drive and to the motherboard.

If it's an IDE drive, is it on the middle connector of the IDE data cable with the jumper set to Slave/CS, or is the drive on its own separate IDE cable with the jumper set to Master?

If this is a new problem and the drive used to work, have you installed or uninstalled any media players or disc burning software recently?

To open your laptop, check the manual. It will tell you where the screws are located.

To check the cable, look at the back of the CD drive. There will be two cables, one for power, one for data. The data cable will either be IDE or SATA. Just make sure it's plugged in firmly to the back of the drive and the other end of the cable is connected to the motherboard.
