My computer wont even recognize it. It sounds like its going to start the cd rom but then it stops. Any help?

No it is not being seen by the bios....

Im not sure what you mean about cables, I dont have any unless they are inside the computler. I have a laptop sorry I did not make that clearer. This is so frustrating I wish the stupid thing would just work!

when you don't say it's a laptop you will receive replies for a desktop
if it is not seen by the bios
you can try taking it out and putting it back in,it may be dirty contacts on the back of the drive may have gone and need replacing

Im sorry I did not say it was a laptop, I did not realize they made Aspire 5100 in a desk top!
