Hi, I'm having trouble with my CD-ROM driver.
The status of my device is "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)." Whenever I try to reinstall it, my computer detects the "new hardware" but the message is soon followed by one that says that a problem occurred and it may not work properly, which it doesn't. When I try to troubleshoot, nothing happens the way it is supposed to.
If anyone can help, I would be ever so grateful.

Thanks.

Thanks, but before I take action, would you be able to explain to me what the "risks" are and/or how easily I could "mess this up"?

Thanks.

This involves making changes to your Windows registry. If you are not confortable doing this, you may want to find someone to help you. If you know how to make a backup copy of the registry, you should be ok trying this.
