CD-Rom drive won't read disks

3673 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  spunk.funk
I have an acer pc with a Sony DVD/cdrw cd rom drive. When I put a disk in the drive does not recognize there is a disk in it. If I try to "run" manually it says the program cannot be found and when I go into my computer and click on the D drive it says please insert disk. I went to the device manager and there are no error on the driver or anything. Can anyone help me with this issue?

I already deleted the upper and lower filters from the registry and I can not go to the Microsoft website and run the fix it program bc I can't connect to the Internet until I can install the driver for my wireless network drive...
Hi well lets see if we can sort that what is the make and model of the computer
It is an acer aspireT180
Hi you can get the drivers here there are 5 lan and 3 wifi do you know which you need Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / Aspire / Aspire T180 if not try downloading speccy to the other computer and either burn to a disc or put it on a usb drive and transfer to your machine install and run it will tell you about the hardware Speccy - System Information - Free Download do not pay just download
Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager do you see any yellow marks under DVD/CDrom drives? If not, then you do not require drivers or need to remove the upper and lower filters. but the drive might have died and need to be replaced.
