My 20-month old Dell crashed (Hitachi "Deathstar" drive) and I had to buy a new drive and reinstall Windows XP. Also reinstalled various video editing software. Since then neither the CD-ROM nor DVD will write (Sony CD-RW CRX216E and TEAC DVD+RW DVW58E). Both will play discs, but they will not write. Both show up in Device Manager - no problems. I tried Microsoft's driver update, but it says the current drivers are up-to-date. Dell is no help. PLEASE ... any ideas?

I WAS able to burn music files to both the TEAC and Sony drives, so it's not the hardware. Uninstalled burning software, but when I try to backup or "drag N drop" files to either drive I get the same message: "Files Backed Up" or "Done," when in reality nothing has happened. Tonight the CD won't even read the data I backed up on it earlier...
