I have an optiac dvd+-rw ad-7580a drive that will read cds fine but not dvds or dvd roms. The disks im using are fine. I've got the correct driver, and my whole computer is less than a year old. It will try to read but nothing ever happens. Once in a great while it will reconize the disk as a blank dvd but its not blank... Please help me solve this problem

Check the disk itself maybe it's too scratchy for the drive to read, try other dvd and see if being read properly. You can also try dvd drive cleaner. If you are multi-booting try the other OS or perhaps a Linux live.Just too early to give up :p
