I have had this problem before, and I removed the dvd player and replaced with a new one, they are very cheap these days and not worth the hassle, in my opinion.
I have taken them apart and got them working and they soon break down again, getting them repaired costs, replacing them is easy, even for the inexperienced, if you have only one drive, you should be ok when replacing, but if you have two, there is a link in the back of the dvd/cd player to make one of the drives a master. The instructions usually explain how to do this.
Or you can wait and some else may have a better reply. good luck..
