Try to clear the cmos rom. try to access to the setup and activate the auto detect all drive disk or CDROM drive.
Cd drive in bios
I have a sony vaio laptop operating on Windows ME. The hard disk failed I installed another which is recognised in the BIOS. Looking at the boot set up it shows the hard drive and removeable items in blue which you can activate or deactivate. The cd rom is shown in white and cannot be activated. Do I need a new cd drive Charles Isles
