I seem to be getting this problem quite alot recently, I was trying to install OP force from the cd drive, then an error occured about it not finding a file on the disc, then i went back into my computer and both the cd drives where missing, if I reboot they reappear, I get this problem quite alot, not just when Im installing op force, .
Anyone know anything about this ?

Check the cableing inside your computer. Might be a loose ide connection on the drive, or the motherboard.

Go to your device manager after checking the cableing and unistall the cd-rom drive and reboot and see if it installs it for you.

Also, have you done a virus scan? Some old boot sector viruses can cause problems also.
(Not sure if xp with ntfs partition could be affected, but worth a try)
