Cd drive don't work!

Hi, i bought a new computer in August 2005, it might seem weird but my cd drive didn't work after January 2006 til now, but had worked before. The problem is the cd drive does't read any types of cds, audio, programs, games, ect. But a couple days ago i notice theres a "!" beside the "SCSI and RAID controllers"(look at attachment). Now im not expert in computer so i don'nt know if that is the problem. Any help is appreciated.

uninstall the drive from the device manager then right click and scan for hardware changes

Yes! I uninstalled and re-installed/scan for hardware change like I read in some of the previous threads about this subject, it didn't work. In "My Computer" it shows i have the cd drive, but when i put a cd in, its just does'nt do anything, just the loading light blinks for a while. Any suggestions on what I should do next?

was this a new computer when you bought it
uninstall the burning software and reinstall,but it sounds like the laser has gone
see if a friend will try it in their computer to see if it is the drive or your computer is the problem
